A burglar alarm system has a series of electrical components that are connected to a property. With sensors, they detect movement or the opening of doors and windows, upon detection of unauthorised entry, a loud alarm is produced.

Entry-level systems usually include some door and window sensors, a motion detector, and a hub that communicates with these devices.
